S.S.Lazio was first introduced to football in 1901 by one of the members of Racing Club de Paris with the immediate formation of a football team, the matches being played first in 1902 and the first match on 16th May being a 3-0 triumph against Societa Sportiva Virtus. After joining the league competition in the year1912, S.S.Lazioreached the final of the national championing for three times, but was never successful in winning. S.S.Lazio was the only prime club in Rome which was against the merging of all the Roman teams into .S Roma.
