A.S. Roma

If you are interested in the European soccer, then the name A.S. Roma would not be an unknown name to you. With Italy being home to numerous large football clubs, A.S. Roma, belonging to the city of Rome, is undoubtedly one of the senior and important soccer clubs in Italy. Soccer is a game that Italians completely die for, and A.S. Roma is one of the primary nerves of the Italian soccer scenario, putting life into the game both in the sector of Italian Serie A and European football on the whole.

The merger of three existent clubs of Alba-Adudace, Roman and Fortitudo-Pro Romagave way to the creation of A.S. Roma in July1927, and ever since then there was no looking back. Although the club had to struggle quite a bit to be amongst the top clubs of Serie A, however, A.S. Roma did win thrice in the leagues. With some of the top players as part of the A.S. Roma Club, they played their first league at a national level in the season between 1929 and 1930 and their first triumph came in the season of 1941 and 19 42, followed by their second win after forty one years in the season of 1982 and 1983 and their third and last win in the season of the year 2000 to 2001. However, A.S. Roma remained as the top Italian Serie A being runners up for many years ranging from 1930 to the last season of 2006 and 2007, through their eighty years of football history. A.S. Roma has also been runners up and quarterfinalist in the European UEFA Cup championship. The years between 1980 through to the year 2007, have been the most promising and successful years for A.S. Roma.

The primary venue of A.S. Roma is Stadio Olimpico and another ground which they use from time to time is Stadio Flaminio. When the players of A.S. Roma get on to the field, they are seen clad in a jersey that is maroon red with golden border, and bearing the emblem with myth of the creation of Rome as its theme on a yellow and maroon shield. The jersey and emblem together reflect the spirit of Rome - the presence of God in the Christian Religion and the dignity that is inherent in its royal touch.

There are many great players who had been part of the A.S. Roma club, who together, took the club to the zenith of its success. These players were not only Italian, but also from other nationalities across the world, who had one motto, of being a part of the prestigious A.S. Roma. Some of the most important names of these players include Bruno Conti, Agostino Di Bartolomei, Roberto Pruzzo, Falcao, Francesco Totti, Vincenzo Montella, Aleandro Rosi, Fulvio Bernardini, Enrique Lucas Gonzales Guaita, Dino Da Costa, Dario Bonetti, Giuseppe Giannini, Andrea Carnevale, Gabriel Batistuta, Cafu, Cristiano Zanetti and Daniele De Rossi.
